    Stormrider Films - 2004/2005

  • Science fiction concepts for UK film "The Kaleidoscope Man".

  • The main body of work was produced from a combination of director guidelines, the film script and my own design initiative.

  • Concept Work and preliminary movie poster design helped to procure interest and investment in the project and was displayed at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Designed brochures and artwork for the DVD box and disc for the re-launch of feature film "Written in Blood".

    Miscellaneous Freelance - 2004/2005

  • Redesigned the corporate logo for Burstfire Networks, a company that provides networking services for the online gaming community. The work required many design revisions before the logo was agreed upon by the Burstfire team and subsequently finalised.

  • Produced seven pieces of card art for a soon to be released WW2-themed Collectible Card Game, "Echelon".

  • Concept for film "The Suffering" (Working Title) by Reel Vision Films.

The two main packages that I have become accustomed to using for 2D and 3D art respectively are:

Corel Painter IX

I have a high level of proficiency with the Corel Painter applications. This is the main software tool that I for all 2D art ranging from sketches to texture maps to full-blown concept paintings. I use a Wacom Intuos III Graphics Tablet and have a good knowledge of keyboard shortcuts to help facilitate a fast but accurate and detailed method of working. I have practiced speedpainting to the extent that I can create compositions in roughly one hour when the need arises.

3ds Max 6

I have modelled and textured several environmental props and prefab objects using 3Ds Max 6 that have been, where possible, optimised for the PS2 generation of console. This has been achieved through a process of gradual feedback from lead art designer of Headfirst Productions whom with which I have sent various models designed with their upcoming game Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End in mind.

Other applications I have had experience with using include:

I am an enthusiastic and ambitious artist with a keen interest in film, games and digital media. As an artist I am always seeking to develop my existing skills and further my abilities by adding new techniques to my craft.

Over the last two years I have become accomplished with digital media and have amassed a large portfolio of concept drawings, paintings and illustrations. Currently working freelance, the main body of work that I have produced over the last few months has been commissioned but I still enjoy painting for personal pleasure when time allows.

The subject matter of this commissioned work has ranged from science-fiction film concepts, creature orthographics and and figure flats to historical WW2-themed card art and fantasy adventure game-book inserts.

My main inspiration and style has derived from my love of film, cinematography and games. I enjoy creating atmospheric scenes and have an active imagination that lends itself well to my ambitions as being a great concept artist. I have been influenced a lot from other well-known concept artists like Anry Nemo and Ryan Church and I have learnt a lot from studying and taking ideas from their work and techniques.

I feel that my time spend concepting for the feature film The Kaleidoscope Man, which is to be shot early 2006, has helped improve me immeasurably as an artist and as someone who can balance the direction of others with my own creative input. Having produced concept art for the most significant shots in the film and for the main characters, vehicles and weapons, I will also get chance to work on some of the backdrop matte paintings in my spare time.

I have had had a couple of part time jobs outside of the art industry that have primarily involved dealing with customers and working within a team. I have also had first aid and fire training and have been responsible for other people's safety. Outside of art I enjoy practicing (and occasionally teaching) martial arts, playing football, playing games and watching films.
